This antique map is from Joseph Marianus and was published in the 1700s in Germany. It was based upon the map of Thomas Kitchin.

Russel – Map of South America

Description of the work:

This historic map is from the German edition of William Russell’s
The History of America, from its discovery by Columbus to the Conclusion of the Late War… entitled
Geschichte von Amerika von dessen Entdeckung an bis auf das Ende des Vorigen Krieges… The work was published in Leipzig in 1780.

Russell’s work explored early American history up to the American Revolution. The work documented the revolution, the French & Indian War, the treaty with France in 1778. It included maps, depictions of Native Americans and Esquimaux, European conquests, and scenic views. The maps for the work were after Bellin or Jefferys.
