Description
This originally hand-colored natural history engraving is from Friedrich Philipp Wilmsen’s
Kupfer-Sammlung [Kupfersammlung] besonders zu F. P. Wilmsens Handbuch der Naturgeschichte für die Jugend und ihre Lehrer, aber auch zu jedem andern Lehrbuche der Naturgeschichte. Mit einer Vorrede von Dr. H. Lichtenstein und Dr. Fr. Klug. The work was published in Berlin in 1821 by Verlag der Buchhandlung von Carl Friedrich Amelang.
The illustrations were drawn from nature by Bressing, Ludwig Meyer, Muller, and Weber. They were engraved by Bressing, Guimpel, Meno Haas, Friedrich Wilhelm Meyer, Ludwig Meyer, Tissot, and Wachsmann.
