This rare scientific work with 12 plates is
L’Astronomie Populaire en tableaux Transparents. The work was published in Brussels in 1856 for Wurttemberg Hall by Kiessling et Comp.

There are 12 colored lithographs loose (as issued) in a large quarto folder with light brown percaline laces. There is cold-stamped frame on the covers with title and publisher’s name gilt. The collection was intended for astronomy courses and depicted stars, celestial planisphere, solar system, and more. Some of the plates intended to be held to light with cutouts or translucent paper.

The work intended to simplify the study of astronomy. A noted in the presentation text, "by means of a system of transparencies easy to conceive and above all perceptible by the light of a lamp, each drawing gives the position and conjunction of the various stars with each other."
