Nicolas Sanson (1600-1667) was oft considered the father of French cartography. He produced over 300 maps in his career, noted for their sharp style and research. He and his son, Guillame Sanson, produced many notable maps and atlases together.
Nicolas Bion (1652-1733) was the most famous French inventory of scientific instruments. He served as the "King’s engineer for mathematical instruments" under Louix XIV.
