Description

This first edition volume is Paul Heineken’s
Lucidum Prospectivae peculum, Das ist: Ein heller Spiegel der Perspective… The work was published in Augsburg in 1727 by the heirs of Jeremiah Wolff.

The folio work is bound in period calf over marbled boards. There are 32 pages of text with 86 (of 95) engravings present, 13 of which are fold out. The work lacks plates 64 to 72 and additional engraved title page. The plates show geometric perspective designs and served as a treaty on perspective and German Baroque design.

Paul Heineken (Heinecken) (1680-1746) was a painter, architect, and coffeeshop owner from Lubeck, Germany. He designed all of the plates for his work
Lucidum Prospectivae peculum…. The engravings were completed by G. D. Nessenthaler and illustrated trompe-l’oeil ceilings, staircases, church interiors, and palaces. The book is considered “one of the most beautiful comprehensive ‘monumental’ treatises written in the eighteenth century.” (Descargues, pp. 138-44)

Paper Size: ~ 9 1/2" by 15"
