Description
This beautiful etched and lithographed plate is from a collection of botanical illustrations after Jean Louis Prevost. It was printed in Paris between 1800 and 1820. The etchings and lithographs were done after Prevost’s original illustrations by the artists Legrand, Alliot, Cally, Soyer, Deplech after Bourgeouis, and Duplat.
Jean Louis Prevost (1760-1810) was a renowned botanical artist. He studied under Jean Jacque Bachelier in Paris. He created one of the most exquisite French botanical works,
Collection des Fleurs et des Fruits. He often had his work exhibited in the Paris Salon and was a member of the Academie de Saint Luc.

Condition report:
The work is in very good condition overall. The far right plate mark is printed to the edge due to how it was printed and bound. There is a small fox mark at the upper left corner of the image area. There are a few faint smudges near the plate marks. There may be some occasional toning or light foxing nearer to the edges. There may be a few minor imperfections or faint marks to be expected with age. Please review the image carefully for condition and contact us with any questions.
