Description

This fine volume with 16 plates is Harold L. Babcock’s
The Turtles of New England. The work was published in Boston by the Society of Natural History in 1919. This is volume 8, number 3 bound in modern blue cloth with untrimmed edges. It features 14 color-printed heliotype plates by R. Deckert and 2 plain lithographed plates. The work was limited to only a few hundred copies on a grant from the Gurdon Saltonstall Fund. The heliotype plates in particular capture the intricate designs of the turtle shells.
