This exceptional botanical engraving is from F. Arena’s
La Natura e Cultura dei Fiori fisicamente esposta in due trattati. The work was published in "Cosmopoli" (likely Palermo) in 1771. This is a second edition or reissue of the first Palermo edition from 1767-68.
La Natura e Cultura dei Fiori is a rare Italian florilegia. It was illustrated by F. Arena and Mario Cammareri. "Arena states in the introduction of the first volume of his work that it was intended not only for ‘florists’ but for scientists too, in particular ‘botanists, physicists and agriculturists’…"
