Description
This detailed natural history lithograph is from Heinrich Rudolf Schinz’s
Naturhistorische Abbildungen der Saeucethiere. The work was authored by Schinz in Zurich in 1824. The work detailed many animals and natural history subjects. The mammals were completed by Carl Joseph Brodtmann and included early ethnographic portraits of the indigenous people of America, Asia, Indonesia and Africa as well as wild cats, elephants, bats, and more. The Native American Indian images were after the work of noted artist, Karl Bodmer.
