Description
This truly exquisite gouache painting depicts a scene in Naples or its surrounding environs. The painting was completed by M. Mauton, a local artist in the early 1800s. He created spectactacular paintings that showed Vesuvius erupting and local landscapes. Mauton’s signature can be found below the painting.
Provenance: From the collection of the artist Francina Schot (1816-1894)

Condition report:
The work is in fair to good condition overall. There is some discoloration in the upper right portion of the image area. There is some chipping or wear at the lower edge. There may be a few minor imperfections to be expected with age. Please review the image carefully for condition and contact us with any questions.
