Description
This splendidly illustrated volume with 63 lithographed plates is Ernest Maindron’s
Les programmes illustrés des théâtres et des cafés-concerts. Menus, cartes d’invitation, petites estampes, etc. The work was published in Paris by Nilsson in 1897. Ernest Maindron were highly influential in the development and publication of poster art.
The volume is bound in green publisher’s cloth with gold gilt details. Thirty-seven of the sixty-three plates were done as chromolithographs. The images are after various artists including Ibels, Chéret, Willette, Roubille, Guillaume, Caran d’Ache, Toulouse-Lautrec, and De Feure. The preface was by Pierre Veber.
Condition report:
The work is in very good to excellent condition overall. There is some rubbing to the volume. There may be a few minor imperfections or faint marks to be expected with age. Please review the image carefully for condition and contact us with any questions.
