This historic four volumes with 13 engravings is Charles Botta’s
Histoire de la guerre de l’indépendance des États-Unis d’Amérique. Traduite de l’Italien, et précédée d’une introduction, par L. de Sevelinges or
History of the War for Independence of the United States of America. Translated from Italian, and preceded by an introduction, by L. de Sevelinges. This is the first French edition of the work published in Paris between 1812 and 1813.

The volumes are bound in contemporary full-cal with gilt spines. They contain an engraved portrait and 12 folding engraved maps. The work was considered the best source of history for the Revolution up to that point.


Condition report:

The work is in good to very good condition overall. There is some browning and foxing to the work. Some of the maps with a closed tear at the card. There is some rubbing and scuffing to the bindings. The head of spines are partly chipped. There are singly tiny wormholes to joints. There may be a few minor imperfections or faint marks to be expected with age. The plates may show signs of handling and age especially with folding engravings. Please review the image carefully for condition and contact us with any questions.
