Description
This lot of four colorful Hawaiian maps is by Ruth Taylor White including cartographs of Hawaii, Kauai, Maui, and Oahu. The maps were published circa 1930s.
They were commissioned by the Hawaii Tourist Bureau in order to create pictorial maps of the islands. Each map is linen backed and feature vignettes with facts and anecdotal details of each island. The maps feature images of golfers, fisherman, lava flows, craters, local flora, and more.
Ruth Taylor White (1896-1985) was an American pictorial map maker born in Oregon.
