This lovely work on grapes is Pierre Viala’s
Traité Général de Viticulture. Ampelographie. The work was published in Paris between 1901 and 1920 by Protat frères for Maccon & Cie.

The work is in 7 volumes with 570 lithographed plates (500 printed in color, 70 without). It includes 840 engraved illustrations in the text as well. It is bound in quarter red morocco, marbled paper boards, patterned endpapers.

This is considered a definitive work on the known grape varieties to that time. It included detailed description. It is considered the finest treatise on grape varieties ever produced. It incorporated the notes and opinions of leading wine growers, viticulturalists, and professors of agriculture across the world.
