This lush work on sea life is Sidonie Gabrielle Colette’s
Regarde par Colette et Meheut. The work was published in Paris by Jean-Guy Deschamps in 1929. The magnificent color illustrations were completed by Mathurin Meheut and stencilled by Jean Saude. This is number 595 of 750 total printed on Vidalon vellum, watermarked paper. There is a decorative cover, 2 near or full page illustrations and 12 in text illustrations.
Mathurin Meheut (1882-1958) was a French painter, draftsman, and sculptor. He was best known for his illustrations of the sea, nature, and Breton scenes.
