Description
This originally hand-colored natural history engraving is from Johann Wolf’s
Abbildungen und Beschreibungen merkwürdiger naturgeschichtlicher Gegenstände. The work was published in Nuremberg between 1818 and 1822 by Conrad Throff’schen Wappen.
The engravings were done by Johann Christoph Bock, many modeled by Ambrosius Gabler. The work detailed animals and plants throughout.
Johann Wolf (1765-1824) was a German teacher with a passion for ornithology. He earned the title of one of Germany’s first ornithologists.
