These two works bound to one volume are Salomon Kleiner’s
Residences Memorable De l’incomparable Heros de nôtre Siecle ou Representation exacte des Edifices et Jardins de Son Altesse Serenissime Monseigneur Le Prince Eugene Francois Duc de Savoye et de Piemont…[bound with:] Representation Des Animaux de la Menagerie de S. A. S. Monseigneur le Prince Eugene Francois de Savoye et de Piemont… The works were published in Augsburg between 1731 and 1740 by the Heirs of Jeremias Wolff.

The first edition works include 11 engraved title pages, text in French and German, engraved dedication leaf. There are 102 engravings after Kleiner, 90 to the first work and 12 to the second. The volume is bound in 19th century marbled paper boards, rebacked and recornered in calf, flat spine with black Morocco label, marbled endpapers, untrimmed edges.

Kleiner’s work is considered a masterpieces of Baroque architecture. He illustrated the Belvedere Palace and Gardens in Vienna. This was the summer home of Prince Eugene of Savoy built by the architect Johann Lukas von Hildebrandt. The first work illustrated the palace and gardens in great detail, the second illustrated the Prince’s menagerie of animals and plants.
