Description
This historic volume is Abby Jane Morrell’s
Narrative of a Voyage to the Ethiopic and South Atlantic Ocean, Indian Ocean, Chinese Sea, North and South Pacific Ocean, in the Years 1829, 1830, 1831. The first edition work was published in New York in 1833 by J. & J. Harper.
Abby accompanied her husband, Captain Benjamin Morrell, Jr., on the Schooner Antarctic. This details her narrative of her husband’s fourth voyage. It includes details on New Zealand, the Philippines, St. Helena, and the Azores. It describes whaling, sealing, and missionary activities.
The volume is bound in the original full pink linen, printed paper label on spine. It is housed in a fine linen folding box with gilt leather title-label on spine. There is an engraved portrait frontispiece.

The work is in very good to excellent condition overall. The work has been skillfully rebacked with original backstrip retained. There is some slight wear to the corners. The paper is uncut.
