Description
This fine volume with 103 chromolithographs is Frank Finn’s
Indian Sporting Birds. The first edition work was published in London by Francis Edwards in 1915.
The volume is bound in modern half calf with maroon morocco title label to spine. The fore and lower edge are untrimmed. The illustrations were after those from Hume and Marshall’s
Game-Birds of India, Burma and Ceylon after British artists including Stanley Wilson, E. Neale, W. Foster, and A.W. Strutt.
Frank Finn (1868-1932) was an English ornithologist. He served as the head of the Calcutta Indian Museum from 1894 to 1903. He was the editor of the
Avicultural Magazine upon his return to England.
