Description
This light-hearted book entitled
Holy Cats was written, drawn, and privately printed by Julia Warhola, Andy Warhol’s mother. It was printed in 1954 in New York. There are stamps to the lower pastedown, back board that read: ‘The Estate of Andy Warhol’ and ‘Andy Warhol Foundation for the Visual Arts’. It features 20 lithographs on various colored and wove papers. It is bound in original lithographed paper covered boards. Julia Warhola was an artist in her own right. She provided the calligraphy to hundreds of Andy Warhol’s covers, advertisements, and book illustrations. For this work,
Holy Cats, she provided the penmanship and original drawings of cats and angels.
