This volume with numerous printed photographs is part of Tériade’s
Verve: Revue artistique et littéraire. This volume was published in 1955 in New York by Simon & Schuster in collaboration with Editions Verve of Paris. The plates were done as lithographs, heliographs, and other styles.

The volume features 114 photographs of Europeans done by Henri Carttier-Bresson between 1950 and 1955. There is a loose booklet giving captions to all the photographs that is also printed to the back of the book. The book cover was designed and executed by Joan Miro.

Verve was a renowned quarterly art journal that ran from 1937 to 1960. It was founded in Paris by the art critic, Tériade. The journal published art from several noted artists including Picasso, Matisse, Leger, Miro, Rattner, Bores, Daumal, Braque, and more.
