Tériade; Artists: Limbourg Brothers - Paul de Limbourg and Jean Colombe Limbourg
This volume with numerous attractive art prints is part of Tériade’s
Verve: Revue artistique et littéraire. This volume was published in 1940 in Paris for Verve. The plates were done as lithographs, heliographs, and other styles.
The illustrations are after the original art ‘les tres riches heures’ of the Limbourg brothers, Paul de Limbourg and Jean Colombe Limbourg, for the Duke of Berry. There is one loose sheet, and 12 loosely mounted illustrations as part of volume 2, issue 7. The text was by Henri Malo and translated by Robert Sage.
Verve was a renowned quarterly art journal that ran from 1937 to 1960. It was founded in Paris by the art critic, Tériade. The journal published art from several noted artists including Picasso, Matisse, Leger, Miro, Rattner, Bores, Daumal, Braque, and more.
