This attractive botanical lithograph is from Valentine Bartholomew’s
A selection of flowers adapted principally for students. The work was published in London in 1822. It had an overslip giving the Rudolph Ackermann imprint as publisher, but the original imprint would be Rodwell and Martin, J. Dickinson.

This rare lithograph and work is mentioned in Nisssen, Great Flower Books, and Dunthorne. Charles Hullmandel is credited as the lithographer. It is a very early example of botanical lithograpy.


Condition report:

The work is in good condition overall. There is very light, mottled toning of the paper. There are occasional marks or smudging to the plates from this work.
